Transitions have always been difficult for Z. Right from Kindergarten - whether it was moving from one activity to another or, in this case, transitioning back to a regular schedule after two weeks of fun and holidays. We have had to take it slow.

The first thing was to get him to sleep on time. During the winter break, he would not sleep before 11 pm and that means he could not wake up before 9 am. These last 2 days, he has been getting to bed on time and waking up early enough to start going back to the club with his dad. That has set the morning rhythm.

Slowly, his classes are starting back up but he is struggling to focus and find the motivation to engage fully. We have restarted the star system because he earned his 100 stars and got his much coveted electronic drum pad! His new target is 70 stars.

We have also restarted the daily agenda which earns him 30 min of screen time the next day if he completes it all. Trying to go slow with this one but hoping that by next week, he is regularly writing again.

This particulat winter break has been really hard for me because I DO NOT like Z sleeping late. However, as we were staying at my mom's place, all his friends there come down to play only at 8 pm and Z refused to come up before 9-9:30 pm. This caused a lot of anxiety for me, because I felt that he NEEDED to stick to his schedule. Now that we are back home and I can see that its not as tough as I thought it would be for him to come back to his regular sleep cycle, maybe next time, I can be less stressed (and consequently, he will be less stressed) about late bed time during the holidays.
